Yoga Teacher, Healer, Visionary, and Seeker of Truth
Ricky Tran is a renowned yoga teacher, spiritual seeker, and lifelong student with a deep passion for inspiring transformation through the practice of yoga. His teachings aim to raise human consciousness, guiding students toward inner peace, physical vitality, and spiritual awakening. With over 24,000 teaching hours (as of 2024), Ricky has helped countless individuals discover the healing power of yoga and has cultivated a community of devoted practitioners.
Ricky’s journey into yoga began as a path of personal healing and transformation. After battling addiction to meth, he turned to yoga in 2005 as a way to reclaim his health and well-being. Yoga not only helped Ricky break free from addiction, but it also opened the door to a lifelong pursuit of spiritual growth and self-discovery. This powerful transformation became the foundation of his teaching, where he shares the tools that helped him heal with others seeking a path to greater health and happiness.
Ricky’s practice is deeply rooted in the teachings of Sri T. Krishnamacharya, the father of modern yoga. He has had the privilege of studying and practicing Vinyasa Krama directly under Srivatsa Ramaswami, one of Krishnamacharya’s longest-standing students. Ricky aspires to embody the wisdom, compassion, and depth of his grand teacher, Sri T. Krishnamacharya, and share those teachings with the world.
Ricky also maintains a close connection with David Williams, the first non-Indian to learn the complete Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga system as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. David is credited with introducing Ashtanga Vinyasa to the Western world, and his influence has deeply shaped Ricky’s practice. Under David’s guidance, Ricky honed his skills in Ashtanga Vinyasa, blending it with other classical yoga teachings to create a comprehensive and accessible style that meets the needs of diverse practitioners.
With a degree in Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management, and Real Estate from the University of North Texas, and a Vinyasa Krama Yoga Teacher certification from Loyola Marymount University, Ricky brings a strong educational background to his work. He has used this expertise to open and grow multiple yoga studios, including Krama Yoga Center, Castle Hills Yoga, and Yoga Southside. Ricky has also partnered with the Town of Addison to bring Addison Circle Yoga to public parks and is the founder of the renowned Breakfast Yoga Clubs in Houston and Austin, which brought communities together for morning yoga, food, music and charity through the 2010s. His diverse student base ranges from beginners to Olympians, actors, healthcare professionals, and C-level executives, reflecting the high-quality, transformative experience his teachings offer.
Ricky is the founder of Yoga Health Institute Corporation (established in 2023), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting holistic health through yoga, meditation, education, and healing practices. He aims to leave a legacy of his teachings while helping others build meaningful careers in service to others.
In addition to training yoga teachers, Ricky seeks to connect qualified instructors with hospitals, clinics, schools, and corporations, expanding the reach of yoga and wellness in communities through evidence-based practices.
Ricky and his team are actively working to expand the board and raise funds to develop the Yoga Health Institute Corporation into a training and job center in Dallas, furthering its mission to provide holistic health solutions and create opportunities for others. He is also building the Feel to Heal Retreat Center in Dallas, TX, which will offer medically supervised holistic health and wellness programs.
Ricky regularly works with private clients in and out of town while continuing to build his nonprofit and retreat center.
