Long bio

Ricky Tran, BBA, E-RYT 500, YACEP, YU-QP4, CBA
Executive Performance Coach & Private Yoga Specialist

Every hero’s journey begins with a call to transform. For Ricky Tran, that call came in 2005, when he faced the depths of addiction and despair. Seeking healing, he stepped onto a yoga mat—and into a new life.

What began as an act of survival became a path of awakening. Through practice, discipline, and inquiry, Ricky rebuilt himself from the inside out—body, mind, and spirit.

Over the next two decades, Ricky immersed himself in study and teaching, logging more than 25,000 hours guiding others toward balance and self-realization. Rooted in the lineage of Sri T. Krishnamacharya and his disciple Srivatsa Ramaswami, Ricky bridges classical yoga and modern understanding to make timeless wisdom accessible to all. His rise from personal struggle to spiritual purpose inspired the creation of multiple yoga communities and ventures, including Krama Yoga Center, Castle Hills Yoga, Yoga Southside, the Yoga Health Institute, and the beloved Breakfast Yoga Club, which united people through yoga, music, and service.

Armed with a BBA in Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management, and Real Estate from the University of North Texas, Ricky has always merged business insight with heart-centered vision. He has shared his teachings nationally at venues such as the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, the Texas Yoga Conferences, and Loyola Marymount University. His students—ranging from Olympians and physicians to everyday seekers—reflect the diversity and universality of his message: that yoga can be a path of healing, transformation and awakening to one's true nature.

Today, Ricky’s life is defined by a new kind of devotion. While he continues to share his expertise through private client work, corporate events, and his signature community classes at Addison Circle Park, his greatest focus is the journey of fatherhood. As he co-parents his daughter, Ricky has transitioned away from institutional leadership to embrace a more intimate, present way of living. Whether through a high-level workshop or a breath shared in the park, Ricky continues to leave behind living proof of his journey: conscious humans becoming their best selves, one breath at a time.

To whom I lend loving credit.

Picture
Srivatsa Ramaswami, one-on-one student of T Krishnamacharya for 33 years. He is the teacher whom I have learned the most about yoga. He's taught me Krishnamacharya's Vinyasa Krama (asana, vinyasa, pranayama), direct translation of ancient texts, e.g. Yoga Sutra, Bhagavad Gita, Samkhya Karika, just to name a few. I have learned a tremendous amount of Sanskrit through this master's blessings.

Original Ashtanga Yogis David Swenson, David Williams, (Ricky Tran) and Danny Paradise @Ashtanga Mela 2010. These first generation Ashtangis showed me by example how one can continue to practice yoga for the rest of your life.

The Amazing Kumar Pallana, actor, performer, comedian, yogi, taught me that no matter the age of the student, everyone must be taught to laugh and breathe.
Picture
Sri Dharma Mitra, circa 2009 taught me about ahimsa and devotion. The master reminds us that the goal of yoga is Self-Realization. He is as his name implies, a friend to all.

Inspired by Bryan Kest Power Yoga, through Suze Curtis, my first yoga teacher. Learn to be comfortable when uncomfortable. Listen. Respond vs. React.
