No Class March 17 — Spring Break
Enrollment Limited to 3 Students
Application Required
To know yoga, one must understand yoga in both theory and experience.
The Integrated Practice is a semester-long masterclass for serious yoga students who are ready to move beyond simply attending classes and begin a deeper investigation into the theory and experience of yoga.
This is not simply an asana course.
Over 14 meetings, students will explore yoga progressively—from the physical discipline of asana and vinyasa to breath, subtle practice, attention, meditation, philosophy, and Self-inquiry.
The semester moves intentionally from the gross to the subtle, allowing students to experience how apparently separate practices gradually become parts of one integrated discipline.
Each Wednesday
Each 90-minute meeting includes approximately:
30 Minutes — Yoga Theory, Lecture & Discussion
60 Minutes — Guided Yoga Practice
The physical practice remains central to the course while progressively incorporating breath, pranayama, internal awareness, concentration, meditation, and deep relaxation.
Some evenings will be physically demanding.
Others will become increasingly quiet and subtle.
Areas of Study
Throughout the semester, students will investigate:
Asana & Vinyasa
A more intelligent, disciplined, and integrated approach to physical practice.
Vinyasa Krama
The principles of progression, relationship, adaptation, and intelligent sequencing.
Breath & Prana
The relationship among breathing, movement, attention, energy, and internal practice.
Bandha & Subtle Practice
An introduction to practices that move beyond the purely physical dimensions of yoga.
Mind & Attention
Observation, concentration, discernment, and the relationship between the mind and practice.
Meditation
The progressive movement from doing toward observing, stillness, concentration, and meditation.
Yoga Theory & Philosophy
An investigation into the ideas that give meaning, direction, and purpose to yoga practice.
Integration
Bringing body, breath, mind, meditation, and yogic understanding together into one practice.
Assessment & Test Out
The semester begins with an assessment of each student's current practice and concludes with a final Test Out & Integrated Practice.
The purpose of assessment is not competition or performance.
It is to observe development.
Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned through both understanding and direct experience.
The semester culminates in an extended integrated practice moving through:
Asana → Pranayama → Internal Practice → Stillness → Meditation / Deep Relaxation → Yogic Reflection
Who Should Apply?
The Integrated Practice is intended for serious students who want to understand yoga beyond the level ordinarily available in public classes.
Previous yoga experience is strongly recommended.
You do not need to intend to become a yoga teacher.
This course is part of the developing Yoga Health Institute curriculum and is designed to serve as foundational study for students who may later pursue advanced practitioner studies or teacher certification through YHI.
The Spring 2027 Founding Cohort is intentionally limited to three students, allowing for substantial individual attention, assessment, and mentorship.
